OMG: See WHY Real Madrid table £72million to seal crucial late transfer
Real Madrid have
reportedly tabled an offer worth around £72million in total to Paris
Saint-Germain for the transfer of striker Edinson Cavani.
Don Balon claim, however, that this current
proposal, which includes add-ons, falls short of PSG’s valuation of the Uruguay
international, who has been one of the most prolific centre-forwards in Europe
for a number of years now.
There seems little doubt that a proven player like Cavani could
add something to this Real squad, with their top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo
leaving for Juventus this summer and Karim Benzema netting only five times in
La Liga last season as he looks somewhat past his peak.
Cavani, 31, looks in far better shape in recent times, having
flourished at PSG, particularly since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure has
allowed him to make that central striker spot his own.
The clinical South American scored 40 goals last season, 49 the
year before that, and is the French giants’ all-time leading scorer.
If Real can bring him to the Bernabeu in the next few days it
could be a superb signing to bring in an upgrade on Benzema and take the a
weight of pressure off Gareth Bale’s shoulders to replace Ronaldo as the team’s
new focal point.
