OMG: Madrid and Man United battle for Rabiot £36m deadline transfer day
Real Madrid are
reportedly ready to consider a transfer swoop for Paris Saint-Germain
midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer.
The France
international has also been linked with Manchester United today by Paris United
(translated by Calciomercato), though time is fast running out for the Red
Devils to get signings in.
It seems likely United
will now miss out, and Don Balon report that Madrid are looking into signing Rabiot as a
replacement for Mateo Kovacic after his loan move to Chelsea yesterday.
Rabiot seems an ideal
addition for Real, though he’s also said by Don Balon to be seen as a key
player in PSG’s first-team.
The French giants are
under new management this season, with Thomas Tuchel replacing Unai Emery as
head coach at the Parc des Princes.
It could then be that
Rabiot will see reduced playing time if the new manager has different ideas
about how to set up his team.
And, of course, few
can resist the prestige of playing for an elite club like Madrid, who have won
the Champions League for the last three years running while this
expensively-assembled PSG squad continue to struggle to make progress in the
competition.
United could also have
done with a little more in midfield this season, with Michael Carrick retiring
and with Paul Pogba struggling at Old Trafford.
However, it is surely
too late for them for this summer as just minutes remain until the 5pm deadline
for English clubs.
The rest of Europe,
however, have longer to get signings in.
