OMG: See what Man United says about Pogba & Fred after lost to Brighton
The Red Devils were lucky
to come away with a 2-1 win in their first game against Leicester, with the
Foxes deserving of at least a draw at Old Trafford.
But on Sunday afternoon,
United's luck has well and truly run out, with Brighton beating Jose Mourinho's
side 3-2 at the Amex.
The scoreline flattered
the red half of Manchester, with a number of their big names turning in woeful
displays on the south coast.
Anthony Martial, Juan
Mata and Luke Shaw are sure to feel the wrath of Mourinho once again behind
closed doors.
But it was in central
midfield where a lot of the problems stemmed from against the Seagulls. Andres
Pereira, Fred and Paul Pogba lined up in a three which worked to great effect
against Leicester.
However, Chris Hughton's
side brutally exposed it, with Dale Stephens, Davy Propper and Pascal Gross all
having fine games.
And one major Man Utd fan
account dropped a divisive tweet on the partnership of Pogba and summer signing
Fred after the game.
LET THE DEBATES BEGIN
We have a World Cup winner in Paul Pogba
alongside a tidy Brazilian in Fred and yet we couldn't seem to withstand the
pressing intensity from Brighton.
Does that come down to the manager? Or is that the players not performing? Was it tactics or work-rate/quality?#FullTimeJohn

It's a very interesting
point.
Pogba spent the whole
summer with France at the World Cup thriving in a midfield two alongside N'Golo
Kante.
While Fred is not at the
same level as the Chelsea man, he is a player in a similar mould to Kante, so
why can't Pogba operate in a similar manner?
The comments from United
fans were very interesting to say the least.

The amount of times Pogba just carelessly gave
the ball away, do you want Mourinho to kick the ball for him ?

Why don’t United press? It can be acceptable
against big teams, but United make EVERY single team look like prime Barcelona!

Jose.
His tactics seem to be limited to getting the ball and launching it forward and hoping for the best.
There's barely any movement in attacking positions and the attacks are all the same!
Lack of diversity in the way we play makes it very easy to defend against.

We look like square pegs in round holes.
Brighton made us look like Coventry. They were so comfortable. Players hardly
gave a damn.
It's hard to pinpoint
what the issue is.
Are Mourinho's tactics
aged and therefore nullifying the progression of the two midfielders? Or are
they simply not listening to the manager's orders and playing far too casually.
There
is no doubt that there is a certain element of the latter. On far too many
occasions, both Pogba and Fred were guilty of making casual passes which failed
to find a teammate.
Mourinho
needs Nemanja Matic back as soon as possible.
