Dortmund agree to let me go say Aubameyang
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed Borussia Dortmund agreed to let him leave in the summer but a dream move to Real Madrid failed to materialise.
The Gabon international has been heavily linked with a move away
from Dortmund in recent seasons after establishing himself as
one of the best goalscorers in Europe.
Dortmund have resisted interest in Aubameyang in the past and on the one occasion when they
were happy for their striker to leave no concrete offers were forthcoming.
“There was a time in the window when I could have changed
[team],” he told Bild, via The Daily Mail. “We [Aubameyang and the Dortmund board]
agreed on this together in all openness but nothing happened.
“I have always felt very comfortable in Dortmund, in the team
and at BVB, and that is true today, too. BVB is my family!”
Aubameyang has previously admitted Madrid are his dream club and
there was a period in the window when Kylian Mbappe choose Paris Saint-Germain
and Alvaro Morata left Madrid to
join Chelsea were the possibility of a transfer looked encouraging.
However, no offer came from Madrid and the 28-year-old has
already dismissed the prospect of ever joining an English side after revealing
the Premier League does not interest him.
In the last two campaigns, only two players have scored more
goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Aubameyang (39).
