Tottenham has Sign Serge Aurier from PSG @ £23m
Tottenham have announced
the £23m signing of Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier
The 24-year-old has
signed a five-year contract and arrives as Spurs' replacement for Kyle Walker,
who joined Manchester City in a £50m deal earlier in the window.
The Ivory Coast
internaitonal said: "This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive
football club and I am determined to prove myself as a professional both on and
off the pitch.
"This is a fresh
start for me and I will do everything to make the Spurs fanbase, which is huge
and diverse, proud of me. The fans are the most important people at any club
and I am looking forward to
reported earlier this month that Mauricio
Pochettino had moved for Aurier after attempts to sign Porto's Ricardo Pereira
proved fruitless.
But Aurier's move was
thrown into doubt over a work permit application, due to an ongoing appeal over
a conviction from in France for assaulting a police officer, which had resulted
in a two-month suspended prison sentence.
The Home Office granted
his work permit on Deadline Day's eve and Spurs completed the deal over night.
He will wear the number 24 shirt.
Tottenham are expected
to have a busy Deadline Day, wanted two further deals over the line after
Aurier.
They have agreed a deal
with Swansea to sign striker Fernando Llorente, which Spanish
football expert Guillem Balague believes to be £12m.
