OMG: See why Simeone was sent out off against Arsenal
Diego Simeone called the referee a ‘son of a bitch’ before he was sent to the stands in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening. Atletico were reduced to 10 men after just 10 minutes as Sime Vrsaljko was given two yellow cards for challenges on Jack Wilshere and Alexandre Lacazette.
Simeone reacted angrily to the decision and was sent to
watch the remainder of the game in the stands by referee Clement Turpin.
And in his rant directed towards Turpin, the Atletico Madrid
boss called the French official a ‘Hijo de puta’, which translates to ‘son of a
bitch’.
Simeone watched the rest of the fixture in
the directors’ box and was standing directly behind Arsenal’s chief
executive Ivan Gazidis.
Atletico managed to get to
half-time without conceding a goal but Arsenal were rewarded for their
dominance as Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring in the 61st minute.
But with just eight minutes
remaining, Antoine Griezmann capitalised on Laurent Koscielny’s error to secure
a 1-1 draw for Atletico. Arsenal will travel to Madrid for the second leg of
their semi-final tie next Thursday.
