PSG attacker Neymar remains in constant contact
with Real Madrid over a potential summer move and has already requested his new
shirt number, according to reports.
Rumours linking the Brazilian with a shock
transfer to the Bernabeu emerged recently, with Neymar growing increasingly
unhappy in Paris having clashed with Edinson Cavani over set-piece duties early
in the season.
Then, in a recent thumping win over Dijon, he
took a penalty off the Uruguayan that would have seen him break Zlatan
Ibrahimovic’s PSG goal record – and was greeted by boos and jeers by fans as a
result.
That rattled Neymar and increased his desire to leave, and Spanish television show El Chiringuito now claim that talks with Real have progressed to such a point that he has already picked his shirt number.
One of the conditions he has
expressed to Real is that he wants the No.10 shirt – the same he currently
wears for PSG and Brazil.
However, Luka Modric already has the No.10 shirt, having inherited it from James Rodriguez prior to his move to Bayern Munich, and the Croatian would need to revert to his old No.19 to grant Neymar’s wish.
Real do not feel Neymar’s request
will be a sticking point, however, and are believed to have already come to a
tentative agreement with the his father over a move.
Despite the Brazilian’s ties to Clasico rivals Barcelona, he has agreed to take a pay cut to join Real Madrid and is eager to leave French football, feeling it is too physical and defensive.
Real are likely to majorly
overhaul their squad in the summer and could even sacrifice Cristiano Ronaldo
to PSG in order to seal a deal for Neymar, while they have also been linked
with the likes of Harry Kane and Eden Hazard.
